Description of the Lake: Caddo Lake is famous for large bass and superior quality crappie
fishing. This fishing destination is located in the northwest Corner of Louisiana, at
Mooringsport. Caddo Lake is a 25,400-acre fishing lake that straddles the western border of
LA and east TX with numerous miles of shoreline. Crypress trees, vegetation and brush
provide ample cover around the lake for fish to hide in. Bass and crappie might be the most
popular species here, but Caddo Lake holds very healthy populations of catfish, bluegill,
hybrid stripers, sunfish, chain pickerel and longnose gar. Boats are available for rent at the
lake, and public boat ramps make putting in watercraft stress free. There are also several
spots that would allow anglers to fish from the bank. Canoes and kayaks are also popular
choices to allow access to both shorelne fishing, and access to backwater fishing areas.
