09/22/19 Fishing Report for Cooper Lake: (See Fishing Report Archive at bottom of

Bass are being caught early and late in the day on topwater lures. Shallow running
crankbaits and jerkbaits are also working early mornings around cover. Plastic worms working
during the day 8 to 15 foot deep along dropoffs and around cover,.Bream and sunfish is
good early and late in the day on popping bugs. Crappie fishing is slow. White bass are
caught when schooling on shallow running crankbaits and jerkbaits. Strippers are caught
when found shooling on topwater lures and jerkbaits.

Description of the Lake: Cooper Lake, also known as Jim Chapman Lake, is located in
north east Texas in the town of Cooper. This lake is known for dandy white bass, and hybrid
striped bass fishing. Cooper lake is 19,000-acres, and holds a vast variety of fish species.
Some of the fish you will find in these waters are; largemouth bass, channel catfish, flathead
catfish, black crappie, white crappie, bluegill, white bass, hybrid striped bass, and bowfin. Fall
and summer are the best times to hit the water for schooling white bass, and hybrid stripers.
In these times they are chasing bait fish aruound points and different submerged structures.
In both warm and cool weather bait fish move deeper and predator fish follow them. There is
31 miles of shoreline available for bank fishing, as well as multiple boat ramps on the
northeast and southeast corners of Cooper Lake.

02/11/19 Sauger fishing is great during the cold winter months. Bass fishing is
good year-round including this time of the season. Bass are generally found in
the deeper water of channels and creeks as well as both submerged and above
water river ledges.
02/18/19 Hybrid stripers are being caught in good numbers. Largemouth and
spotted bass are in the post-spawn stage. Smallmouth are still spawning in
some areas. The post-spawn bass are feeding heavily and large top water lure,
buzz baits and spinner baits are working. Shallow running cranbaits are working.
Crappie fishing is still good.
