09/20/19 Fishing Report for Hardy Lake: (See Fishing Report Archive at bottom of

argemouth bass are being caught early and late in the day on topwater lures
and buzzbaits. Shallow running crankbaits and jerkbaits are also working early
mornings around cover. Plastic worms working during the day 8 to 15 foot deep along
dropoffs and around cover,.Bream and sunfish is good early and late in the day on
popping bugs. Crappie fishing is slow. White bass are caught when schooling on
shallow running crankbaits and jerkbaits. Muskie and Nothern Pike are caught early
and late shallow on large, jointed shallow running crankbaits. Walleye are slow.

Description of the Lake: Hardy Lake is a reservoir that is maintained by the Hardy
Lake State Recreation Area. This lake was not built for flood control, so it stays at full
pool year rounds. This creates the perfect enviroment for healthy populations of fish,
ranging in species. Hardy lake is surrounded on all sides by limestone and rocky
bluffs. Lilypads and underwater vegetation provide plenty of cover for fish to hide, as
well as rocky points, humps and ledges. Most anglers seek out the underwater grass
patches for the most fish.

Winter months are the best times for walleye, and a good time for largemouth, and
spotted bass.

03/10/19 The most pursued species during this time of the year are bass -
largemouth and spotted bass. They can be caught during the cold winter
months. They are generally found in the deeper water of creeks channels, as
well as both submerged and above water river ledges. We recommend using
deep diving crankbaits and jigs with trailers at this time of the year. .
