05/31/19 Fishing Report for Lake Houston: (See Fishing Report Archive at bottom of
page)  Like most all the east Texas lakes, the water levels have been high and the water
lightly stained. Bass fishing hs been good for both largemouth and spotted bass. The fish are
shallow holding near cover in 1 to 4 feet of water. Buzz baits, and spinner baits are working
good. Bluegill and Shellcrackers are being caught regularily. Bluegill are taking popping bugs
well.  


Description of the Lake: Lake Houston is located in the south east part of Texas, at
Houston. It was formed on the West Fork of San Jacinto River. This body of water provides a
good variety of fish species for all anglers. Lake Houston is 11,800-acres, but most of the
shoreline is not accessible for fishing from the bank. That being said, there are a few areas
that do have access for shoreline fishing. Bass, crappie and bluegill are the most commonly
hit fish by anglers in the area, but the lake contains good numbers of catfish, sunfish, striped
bass, hybrid stripers, and bowfin.
