Description of the Lake:
Neely Henry lake, or reservoir, is located on the Coosa River in the northeastern part of the
stare near Gadsden, Alabama. It is an 11,000 acre lake with 339 miles of shoreline. The lake
has long, gravel points, shallow flats and deep banks and dropoffs on the old river channel. It
is a favorite destination for largemouth and spotted bass, There are lots of boat docks and
submerged fish holding structure and downfalls, that provide cover for the fish. Crappie are a
second favorite species on the lake. There is same available fishing opportunity from the
banks but it is best fished from a boat. All types of boats are used from canoes, kayaks, john
boats, bass boats and pontoon boats.

This is a good time for bluegil and redear sunfish as well as largemouth, spotted bass hybrid
striped bass and striped bass.
Fall:
Fall it a excellent time for spotted and largemouth bass and crappie.
Winter:
Winter months are good for largemouth and spotted bass.

1/23/19 Bass is the top species in pursuit this time of the year. They are
generally deep, in creek and on the ledge of the old river channel and banks of
the river up stream below the dam. Jigs with trailers and deep diving crank baits
are working good  for both the largemouth and spotted bass species.
