Bass fishing is good year-round including this time of the season. Bass are generally found in
the deeper water of creek channels. Steep ledges and banks also hold bass. Crappie are
deep and slow to take anything but can be caught during the winter.

Description of the Lake:
Smith Lake also know as Lewis Smith Lake is a 21,000-acre lake located in north-central
Alabama about an hour north of Birmingham. It is a very deep and very clear lake. Night
fishing is popular on the lake. It is know for it huge spotted bass. In addition to the spots, big
stripers, crappie, and largemouth and several other species live in its waters. , The lake has
over 500 miles of shoreline. There are many boat docks, huge rocks and boulders, and
trees. There are numerous creeks and in fact, the lake is made up mostly of creeks. There is
some bank access but most fishing is done from boats. Canoes, kayaks, john boats, bass
boats and pontoon boats are used.
