Bass, spotted, and largemouth are being caught early and late in the day on topwater
lures. Shallow running crankbaits and jerkbaits are also working early mornings around
cover. Plastic worms working during the day 8 to 15 foot deep along dropoffs and around
cover,.Bream and sunfish is good early and late in the day on popping bugs. Crappie fishing
is slow. Strippers are caught when found schooling on topwater lures and jerkbaits.

Description of the Lake:
Toledo Bend Reservoir (Toledo Bend Lake) is a 185,000-acre lake on the texas-Louisiana
border on the Sabine River. It lies east of San Augustine. It is 65-miles long with 1,200 miles
of shoreline with several popular species of fish.It is considered one of the best bass
tournament lakes in the U. S.  There are several boat ramps, marinas, campgrounds, and RV
parks. Some are in Texas and some in Louisiana. If you are fishing from shore, a fishing
license is required from that state. If you are fishing from a boat, a license from either state is
valid. There is lots of standing timber, boat docks and hydrilla plus a variety of other types of
aquatic vegetation.

03/08/19 We are getting some good reports on crappie and bass. Fish the
major creek channels or drift the flats with grubs for crappie. Bass are in stump
and shallow sunken timber flats, or their pre-spawn holding areas. Use worms,
jigs with trailers and medium diving crankbaits.
