02/14/19 Fishing Report for Weiss Lake: (See Fishing Report Archive at bottom of page)
Bass fishing is good during this month but it won't be but a few days until Crappie becomes
the favorite species. Bass are generally deep on the old river channel ledges and creek
channels. Deep diving crankbaits and jigs with trailers are good lures to use during the winter
months.

Description of the Lake:
Lake Weiss is famous for its crappie fishing. It turns out some big crappie and in large
numbers. It is also a good striper and bass fishing lake. It is a 30,000-acre reservoir created
on the Coosa River, Chattooga River and Little River with about 450 miles of shoreline. The
lake is located in northeast Alabama on the Alabama and Georgia border. Spring is the peak
season for crappie and bass. The lake has several public boat launches and marinas. It can
be fished from John boats, bass boats, pontoon boats, kayaks and canoes.

he fishing season is year-round.
Spring:
Spring is a prime time for the lakes big crappie. Bluegil and redear sunfish, largemouth and
spotted bass, white bass, striped bass and hybird striped bass are also caught during the
spring months.
Summer:
This is a good time for bluegil and redear sunfish as well as largemouth, spotted bass hybrid
striped bass and striped bass.
Fall:
Fall it an excellent time for spotted and largemouth bass and crappie.
Winter:
Winter months are good for largemouth and spotted bass.
