05/04/19 West Point Lake Fishing Report: (See Fishing Report Archive at bottom of page)
Bass fishing is very good. They are pre-spawn and holding and feeding in shallow water.
Buzz baits, spinner baits and shallow running crank and jerk baits are working. Bream are
starting to bed and fishing will be getting good soon. Crappie are in deeper water with cover.

Description of the Lake:
Lake West Point lies on the Alabama and Georgia state line. It consist of a 35-mile stretch of
the Chattahoochee River below the famous Lake Eufaula.  West Point Lake is know for bass,
crappie, catfish hybrid stripers and sunfish. Its main feather is the standing timber and
submerged trees..The lake covers 26,000-acres and provides over 500 miles of shoreline for
fishing. A fishing license from either state allows fishing these waters from a boat (except
upstream from the GA Hwy 109 bridge). Quality spotted bass fishing is a main species most
anglers pursue. There are numberous pockets and creek channels, old river ledges and lots
of submerged and standing timber that give fish a huge amount of cover.

Winter months for bass. Late winter is okay for black crappie, redear sunfish, and bluegill.

02/15/19 Bass fishing is good during the winter months. Crappie and most other
speices are deep and slow to take anything. Bass are holding in the standing
and submerged timber, deep on creek channels.  Deep diving crankbaits and
jigs with trailers work with decent success..
