Fishing Wright Patman Lake, Texas

06/28/19 Fishing Report for Wright Patman:

Description of the Lake:
Wright Patman Lake is 19,000-acres and located in the north east
corner of Texas. 170 miles of shoreline surrond this lake, much of it being difficult to reach for
bank fishing, however the lake has multiple areas like local parks and campgrounds that
make acess easier. Many of these areas also work well for launching kayaks and canoes.
The lake also has a few ramps around the reservior for launching all sized boats. Anglers can
plan on running into bass, crappie, catfish, sunfish, and white bass on this body of water. The
basin of Wright Patman lake has profound depth changes, this creates structure for fish and
baitfish to hide out in. This is a natural occurence, and along with humps, islands, creeks,
river channels, ledges and points, as well as standing timber/aquatic vegetation, this lake has
plenty of cover for all fish species living here. Spring, early summer, and fall are the best
times to try to catch fish in more shallow water. Come winter time and in the heat of summer,
the fish tend to move to much deeper waters.
