01/16/19 Fishing Report: (See Fishing Report Archive at bottom of page)
Surf fishing is outstanding right now for Permit and Pompano. Black Drum are plentiful and
Reds are schooling just a short way from the beach. In Melbourne the weather is moderate
with a few rain showers. Trevally, Shark, and Snapper are biting. Around Merritt Island
Redfish, Snook, and Spotted Sea Trout are on the menu.

Description of the waters:
The waters of this area are known as the Space Coast and hold more than 500 species of
fish. The waters are clear and blue and the bottom is sandy with a trough running through
this area close to the beach bringing fish inshore to feed in the rip currents.
The Banana
River is great for inshore species.
