Bluefish, pompano, jacks and tripletail have been caught in good numbers near shore out of
the inlets. Large sheepshead are being caught around the jetties. Inshore redfish and trout
are being caught, some on on top water flies. The Banama River has been hot.
Description of the waters:
The waters of this area are known as the Space Coast and hold more than 500 species of
fish. The waters are clear and blue and the bottom is sandy with a trough running through
this area close to the beach bringing fish inshore to feed in the rip currents. The Banana
River is great for inshore species.

The fishing season is year-round.
Spring is the best time for fly fishing for Barracuda, Cobia, and Redfish
This is a good time for Barracuda and Shark,
Fall brings about good Barracuda, Bonito, Cobia, and Mackerel fishing.

01/16/19 Surf fishing is outstanding right now for Permit and Pompano. Black
Drum are plentiful and Reds are schooling just a short way from the beach. In
Melbourne the weather is moderate with a few rain showers. Trevally, Shark,
and Snapper are biting. Around Merritt Island Redfish, Snook, and Spotted Sea
Trout are on the menu.
