Fly Fishing Report for Middle Florida Keys from Islamorada to
03/02/10 Fishing Report: (See Fishing Report Archive at bottom of page)
The baracuda fishing has been excellent. There have been a few bonefish caught on
calm days. There have been a few resident tarpon caught near the bridges. The water
is getting a little warmer and it should explode with fish very soon.
Description of the Inshore waters:
With temperatures in the high 70’s, and only slightly increased wind, fishing is highly
recommended at this time. Also, within sight of Marathon is Seven Mile Bridge, where
water moves between Florida Bay and the Atlantic. This results in the movement back
and forth of lots of Permit, Tarpon, and Bonefish as the seasons change. It includes the
Duck Key, Lower Matecumbe Key, Long Key, and Grassy Key,
Speckled trout (Sea Trout),

Fishing Report Archives:
12/31/18 The waters from Islamorada to Marathon are so emerald and blue that
they seem to go on forever. There are miles of flats that are three feet or less
deep, and the light bottom allows you to see the fish coming at a long distance.
There's also a lot of back country water in this area around the numerous
islands. The flats are home to some of the best Permit, Tarpon, and Bonefish
fishing found anywhere.
