With a cold front moving through the temperatures are cooling down but fishing is
still good. The winds are moderate inshore and not creating a big problem.
Redfish, Speckled trout and False Albacore (bonito) are the best fish to fish for at
Description of the Inshore waters:
The Andrews Bay system is made up of the west bay, east bay, and north bay.
These waters are active year-round with fall and winter being the best. They
mainly consist of shallow flats with shallow sand bars a short distance off shore
that channel tarpon along the beach.
Speckled trout (Spotted trout)
The fishing season is year-round.
There are several species of fish that migrate along the beaches that are great
for fly fishers – cobia, spanish mackerel and pompano will be in the area. Speckled
trout and Redfish are in the bays.
King mackerel and bonita migrate along the cost in the emerald waters right off the
beaches. Redfish, Tarpon, Cobia, Jack Crevelle, King Mackerel, and Spanish
Many species of fish can be caught on the fly during the fall months including most
all of the resident inshore species and some along the beaches like bonita.
Redfish, Speckled Trout, Jack Crevelle, King Mackerel ,Bonito, and Spanish
Big sow redfish come into the passes and into the bays to spawn during the early
winter and provide great fly fishing opportunity. Speckled trout, bay redfish and
flounder can be caught during the colder month of the year.
