The Gray-winged Yellow Quill is a clinger mayfly that is found in moderate to fast flowing streams. They emerge between the bottom and reach the surface of the water as a dun. Trout eat this mayfly in all stages of its life. It is an eastern and mid-western species that emerge during the spring usually around noon.
