Bright Angel Creek Arizona Fly Fishing Guide - Gear, Tackle and
Bright Angel Creek Notes:
This stream requires a long, steep hike and most anglers prefer multi-section fly rods or
travel rods to pack in and out. You may want to consider limiting it to one fly rod, line size,
etc. A 4 weight outfit would probably work best for this.

Fly Line:
We recommend either a 4, 5 and/or 6 weight fly line for fly fishing Bright Angel Creek
Arizona. You only need floating fly lines but a sinking tip lines could come in handy during
cold weather.

Fly Rod:
We recommend either a  4 or 5 weight fly rod for the line sizes you use for Bright Angel
Creek. The 4 and 5 weight fly rods should in a medium action and a 8 to 9 foot length. The 6
weight fly rod should be a medium-fast to fast action for large nymphs and streamers. It
should be at least 9 foot in length.

Fly Reel:
The fly reel used should be for each of the 4, 5 and/or 6 weight lines you use and each have
a very good drag. We prefer disc drags but there are other types that will work as well. It
should be smooth.

Leaders should size 0X to 6X and be from 9 to 12 feet long.

Waders can be used for fly fishing Bright Angel Creek but aren't absolutely required. Wet
wading can be done during warm weather and hip waders may also be used to cut down on
the weight of getting in and out of the canyon.

Wading Boots:
Wading boots will be needed. We prefer felt soles but the new rubber soles may work fine.

Trout Flies:
