Fly Line:
We recommend either a 5 or 6 weight floating fly line for fly fishing Chevelon Creek in
Arizona. You may want a sinking tip line for streamers and as well as a sinking line. You
could use a lighter 4 weight fly line in the headwaters.

Fly Rod:
We recommend either a 5 weight fly rod in a medium to medium-fast action that is 9 feet in
length. The 6 weight fly rod should be a medium fast to fast action rod with a slightly stiffer
tip for nymph fishing and 9 feet in length. If you use the lighter 4 weight line, you could use
an 8 to 9 foot fly rod in a medium to medium slow action.

Fly Reel:
The fly reel used for the 5 or 6 weight lines should have very good drags. We prefer disc
drags but there are other types that will work as well. The 4 weight reel should fit the same

Leaders should be a size 2X to 7X and range from 8 to 12 feet in length. Use shorter leaders
for streamer fishing

You should have spare tippet in 2X to 7X. Some anglers prefer fluorocarbon for nymphs but
mono is fine.

Waders are needed for fly fishing the Chevelon Creek. We prefer the breathable type.

Wading Boots:
Wading boots should either by felt soles or the new rubber soles, if you prefer them.

Landing Net:
A landing net is strictly optional but we do recommend using one.

Trout Flies:
Perfect Flies have proven to be effective on the Chevelon Creek wild brown  trout. We have
several customers who have used them on this stream. They closely imitate all the real
aquatic insects, crustaceans and terrestrials that are in the stream. We have specific
imitations of all the insects in all stages of life. If you haven't already tried them, we certainly
hope you will. We are confident you will find them highly effective.
