Fly Fishing Gear, Tackle and Trout Flies - Duck River Tailwater

Fly Line:
We recommend either 5 or 6 weight fly line for the Duck River Tailwater in Tennessee.
You only need a floating fly line although you may want a sinking tip line for streamer

Fly Rod:
We recommend either a 5 or 6 weight fly rod for the respective line size you choose to
use. The 5 and 6 weight fly rod should in a medium fast to fast action and a 9 foot

Fly Reel:
The fly reel used for the 5 or 6 weight lines should have a very good drag. We prefer
disc drags but there are other types that will work as well. It should be smooth.

is fine.

Waders are necessary for fly fishing the Duck River. We prefer the breathable type.

Wading Boots:
Wading boots will be needed. Felt soles work best but you may want to consider the
new rubber soles.

Landing Net:
A landing net would be preferred by most anglers but it's not absolutely necessary.

Trout Flies:
