Fly Fishing Gear, Tackle and Trout Flies - Ischua Creek New York

Fly Line:
The fly line we recommend for fly fishing Ischua Creek is a 4 or 5 weight floating line. For
nymphs and streamers we prefer a 6 weight fly line.

Fly Rod:
The fly rod should be a four, five or six weight fly rod in a medium to medium fast action. We
prefer a length of nine feet.

Leader should be tapered and range from seven and a half to twelve feet long. They should
range from a 0X up to a 6X size, depending on the type of fly and water you are fishing. .

You want to carry plenty of extra tippet material ranging in sizes from 0X up to 6X.

Waders are necessary for fly fishing Ischua Creek. It's 30 feet wide in places. We prefer the
breathable type but neoprene may be preferred during the cold months.

Wading Boots:
Wading boots can currently have either felt or rubber soles.

Landing Net:
A landing net is purely optional but recommended. There's some large brown trout in this
stream. .

We recommend "Perfect Fly" Trout Flies. We have a huge selection in a wide price range. The
trout flies are not only as realistic as you will find, they are the most effective at catching the
holdover trout. We have several customers that use our flies in Ischua Creek.
