Silver Creek Arizon Fly Fishing Guide - Gear, Tackle and Flies
Fly Line:
We recommend either a 4, 5 or 6 weight fly line for Silver Creek. You need floating and
sinking tip lines depending on the time of year.
Fly Rod:
We recommend either a 4, 5 or 6 weight fly rod for each line size if you use them all three or
whichever you do use. The 4 and 5 weight fly rods should in a medium to medium-fast action
and a 9 foot length. The 6 weight fly rod should be a medium-fast to fast action for large
nymphs and streamers. It should be at least 9 foot in length.
Fly Reel:
The fly reel used should be for each of the 4, 5 or 6 weight lines you use and each have a
very good drag. We prefer disc drags but there are other types that will work as well. It
should be smooth. The large brood rainbows can put up a fight.
Leaders:
Leaders should size 0X to 6X and be from 9 to 12 feet long.
Tippet:
You should have spare tippet in 0X and 6X. Some anglers prefer fluorocarbon but mono is
fine.
Waders:
Waders are not needed for fly fishing the Silver Creek.
Wading Boots:
Wading boots can be worn but are not needed.
Trout Flies:
Perfect Flies are recommend because they are the best trout flies you can purchase. We
have specific imitations of every food that exist in Silver Creek. If you haven't already tried
Perfect Flies, we certainly hope you will. You want be disappointed. Use Barbless hooks or
be sure to pinch the barbs down on regular hooks.
