The Florida Keys is a premiere saltwater fly fishing destination. Several different species of saltwater fish exist in the Keys at one time or another during the year. Some are resident species and some just pass through at various times. Some are beginning to migrate back to where they came from.
Fly Fishing Report: March 28, 2025 There are still some tarpon around. They are easy to spot when they roll near the surface. Bonefish are being caught with good consistency. There are groups of Juvenile Tarpon, with some bigger fish mixed in with the right conditions. Bonefish are more active on a tide change. There should be some more permit around. Barracuda are plentiful.

Tips and Techniques: Locating schools of small baitfish will help you find the larger species of game fish such as tarpon. The waters are loaded with baitfish and tarpon from twelve to sixty pounds are there feeding on them.
