Largemouth, smallmouth, redeye, hybrids, landlocked saltwater strippers and peacock bass are all fond of water snakes. Small, baby snakes make the perfect meal for a largemouth. That may be just one reason the all time popular casting or spinning bait – the artificial worm, works so well. Bass may mistake the plastic worm for small snakes. They work best if they are presented upon the bank or back into the grass and then slowly brought in the water. This type of presentation is almost irresistible to a bass.
