The Dark Blue Sedge is found in all types of streams from tailwaters and spring creek to freestone streams in Eastern waters. It hatches from the middle of April until the end of June depending on the location. It emerges in the evening and the females deposit their eggs in the evenings. These caddisflies exist in huge quantities in some eastern streams. Although they hatch in the evenings, trout can be taken late in the afternoons on both the pupa and adult imitations.
