Fly Fishing Bobs Creek Pennsylvania
Bobs Creek is a small freestone stream that has a good population of wild brown trout and native brook trout but is also stocked by the state. There has been some problems with acid rain in the past, but it is suppose to be better that it has been. Fly fishing Bobs Creek can be excellent at times.

The upper section of Bobs Creek is heavily canopied with tree limbs in all but about a two mile long section that runs through a pasture. It stays cool through the summer months in most areas.

Below Pavia, the stream increase in size from about a fifteen foot average to more than forty foot average width. The pH is also better in the lower section and there’s more food available. It is exposed much more to the sun and it does tend to get warm during the hot
summer. Bobs Creek flows into Dunning Creek twenty miles downstream from the headwaters.

You can access the upper part of Bob’s Creek from T652 that leads out of the town of Pavia. It can also be accessed from State  Route #3001. The stream flows through State Game Lands and hiking is required. There a trial that follows the stream that’s a game land access road. The lower section of Bobs Creek, below Pavia, can be accessed from State Road #869 which follows along the stream.

This stream has a good supply of aquatic insects, especially in the lower section. There are several species of mayflies, some caddisflies and even some stoneflies. There are even a few Green Drakes. The newly stocked trout are not selective but the large holdovers and wild trout certainly are. Specific imitations of the aquatic insects always outperform the generic fly patterns.
