Fly Fishing Little Mahoning Creek Pennsylvania
Little Mahoning Creek, a tributary of Mahoning Creek, is a nice size trout stream located in southwest Pennsylvania. It begins above the little town of Deckers Point and flows from there to Nashville. The headwaters are relatively small but it still get to as wide as thirty feet. This upper section of Little Mahoning Creek flows through open pastures with some trees and bushes along the banks. The stream is stocked in its headwaters area. State Route #1034 provides access to this area along with some bridges and side roads.
A Delayed Harvest Fly Fishing Only section begins just below Nashville. It’s a four and a half mile stretch of water that runs from Cesna Run downstream to State route #1034 at Rochester Mills that’s heavily stocked. Little Mahoning Creek is fairly large in the DH area,
averaging about sixty feet in width. It has a good rock substrate and some fairly fast flowing runs and riffles. The pools are rather large and deep and provide good holding areas for the holdover trout.
