East Clear Creek is located in the Mogollon Rim area of Arizona. It is a tributary of the Little Colorado River. The stream provides about thirty miles of small stream trout fishing. This is a remote stream with plenty of trout but difficult access. Fly fishing East Clear Creek in the Kinder Crossing area is probably your best bet.

It’s a beautiful little streams surrounded with Ponderosa pine and some colorful canyon walls. You have to get into the East Clear Creek canyon to fish it and that’s isn’t easy to do in most places. Access  is from several different forest roads off of roads leading off Highway #87.

East  Clear Creek is best known for its wild, stream-bred trout. It has some nice size brown trout as well as average size rainbows.

The stream consist of a variety of types of water including some deeper pools and runs. There’s a few sections of riffles but all in all, the stream flows through the canyon on a moderate decline.

East Clear Creek supports a very good population of aquatic insects. Blue-winged Olives, Tricos, Pale Evening duns and a few other mayflies are present. Caddisflies including Little Black Caddis, Short-horned Sedges, Spotted Sedges and Green Sedges are also plentiful. There’s also some brown stoneflies that hatch during the month of June. Terrestrial insects supplement the aquatics during the Summer months.
